From August 5th to 14th, 2024, THIS prepared a series of training activities for new teachers for the upcoming semester. These events provided new teachers with rich and meaningful opportunities for learning and exchange. The new teacher training covered all aspects, helping teachers integrate into the school environment comprehensively. It ranged from introducing the school culture to icebreaker activities, from a breakfast meeting organized by the Parent Council to exploring nearby shops, as well as various educational and teaching-related training sessions.

The activities began at 8:00 a.m. with the introductory icebreaker meeting for new teachers, organized by the school’s leadership team along with the administrative staff. The primary goal of this icebreaker session was to help new teachers quickly integrate into the community.

The event took place in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, with teachers engaging in interactive games and team-building tasks. This helped break the initial unfamiliarity, laying a solid foundation for the following days of training. Through these activities, the teachers got to know each other better, quickly developed a sense of teamwork, and established a strong network of relationships for their future work.

Warm Breakfast Meeting

with Parent Council

Following the icebreaker session, the Parent Council hosted a warm breakfast meeting for the new teachers. During this breakfast, Parent Council members engaged in friendly conversations with the new teachers. Both representatives from the Parent Council and student representatives gave enthusiastic speeches, expressing their warm welcome wishes and expectations for the new teachers. The Parent Council members particularly emphasized that the collaboration between home and school is a crucial aspect of children’s development. They expressed their willingness to work hand in hand with the school to support the new teachers and, through a comprehensive approach to home-school co-education, jointly create a harmonious educational network that safeguards the holistic development of the children. 

 

The student representatives shared their curiosity and welcome for the new teachers, expressing their hope to grow and learn together in the new semester. This provided new teachers with an opportunity to understand the students’ learning habits and psychological needs, enabling them to tailor their teaching plans more effectively and lay a solid foundation for future teaching and learning.

Pedagogical Trainings

THIS also conducted a week-long educational and pedagogical training program. The training covered various topics, including the interpretation of the school’s mission and core values, responsive teaching. By Design curriculum, international education concepts, cross-cultural communication skills, and the use of modern teaching tools. Veteran teachers delivered specialized lectures, sharing their valuable experiences and practical methods in education and teaching. The new teachers actively participated in discussions, raised numerous questions, and received detailed answers. The structured and well-organized training sessions helped the new teachers quickly adapt to the school’s teaching environment, enhancing their educational and teaching abilities to better support students in thriving on their personalized learning journeys.     

 

This new teacher training program not only helped the new teachers smoothly integrate into the THIS community but also boosted their teaching confidence. Through the icebreaker session, support from parents and students, and systematic teaching training, the new teachers are now better prepared to excel in their teaching roles. They are ready to guide and assist students in exploring their identities, realizing their potential, and facing future challenges with confidence as they embrace the wider world.
