Curriculum Afternoon

As the 2024-2025 school year gets underway, Tsinghua International School held its curriculum afternoon on September 6th. This is a long-standing tradition for THIS, and all the parents are invited to attend this event at the beginning of each school year. Through the teachers’ introduction of their educational background, their curriculum and assessment methods, parents gained a deeper understanding of the school’s educational philosophy, and a more detailed and comprehensive understanding of their students’ academics and growth, to better support the home-school co-education.

Meeting with Principals

After attending the first Parents’ Council meeting of this semester earlier in the morning, Ms. Zhu Ying, Executive Principal of THIS, gave an opening speech with the theme of “transforming through actions” to all the parents. Ms. Zhu set the tone for the new school year, taking “action” as the keyword and following the Tsinghua spirit of “actions speak louder than words,” linking home and school, and leading the teachers and students to more breakthroughs and growth.

First of all, Ms. Zhu Ying introduced the members of the leadership team for this school year, reviewed the construction and renovation projects carried out in the school during the summer vacation, and expressed her praise and encouragement to the students and teachers who have been engaged in volunteer teaching, participated in competitions and won prizes during the summer. At the same time, she also reviewed the important events and activities that took place in the 2023-24 school year and showed parents the college admission results of the Class of 2024.

Afterward, Mr. Scott Pare, the Academic Principal of THIS, gave a detailed introduction to the Home-School Communication, hoping to build an efficient communication channel between parents and the school.

Finally, the four parents of the new Parents’ Council Executive Committee went up to the stage to share the work of the Parents’ Council in the new school year. Every parent who served as a parent representative last year received a thank you card from the school for all they have done for the THIS family. It is the dedication of the parent representatives that makes all the exciting activities possible and allows the children to reap countless joys and beauties. The four new Parent Council Executive Committee members also shared their insights with the parents, encouraging them to participate in the school’s activities by “teaching by example”, to be role models for their children, to enhance their understanding of their children, and to continue to grow in all aspects of self-improvement.

Homeroom Meeting

After the Principal’s meeting, all parents moved to the classrooms to attend the Homeroom Meetings hosted by the homeroom teachers of each grade. Homeroom teachers discussed with parents about important topics such as students’ behavior at school, class management, the arrangement of activities in each grade, and home-school co-education, etc. This meeting establishes a close link between home and school so that both sides can work together to empower the growth and development of students, and to co-create a good learning environment for children to grow.

Curriculum Introduction Sessions of

Primary & Secondary Division

In the next session, teachers of each grade and subject introduced in detail their educational background and teaching experience, syllabus and teaching methods, homework and test evaluation, etc., which helped parents to understand more specifically the learning content and arrangement of each subject, and to better support the student’s learning and growing at school.

Tsinghua International School always takes students as the center and curriculum as the core. The curriculum afternoon not only enables parents to understand the teaching and curriculum of the school but also establishes a bridge of communication between home and school.

In the new school year, let’s transform through action. Let home and school work hand in hand to support every student’s all-round growth, and celebrate their wonderful blossoming of all kinds!
